Muslim wedding photography in Chennai
Every Muslim wedding we've shot has run a little differently. Sometimes the bride and groom are in the same hall with a partition between them, sometimes they're in entirely separate halls. We've also covered Bohra Muslim weddings, which follow their own distinct customs. There isn't one fixed format, which is exactly why it matters that the photographers covering it have seen more than one version of it before.
We're Rohan and Puja. We've shot Nikah and Walima ceremonies in Chennai, including at ITC Grand Chola and M Weddings, and we plan the coverage around whatever structure your wedding actually follows rather than assuming one.
The lead-up
A Sangeet or Mehndi the evening before is common, followed by the Nikah the next day. The Walima might be the same day or a separate one entirely. On the day itself, we usually start with getting-ready shots and a couple portrait session before the ceremony begins.
When the bride and groom are apart
This is the part that catches photographers out. If the Nikah is being held with the bride and groom in separate halls, or on separate sides of a partition in the same hall, one set of coverage isn't enough. We split into two teams, one with the groom's side and one with the bride's, and bring the footage and photographs together afterward for the film and the traditional video.
The nikah nama itself is recorded with clean audio wherever we're offering a traditional video, along with the guests praying through the ceremony. So the finished film isn't just the vows, it's the whole room.
